The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) lists the following eligibility requirements for naturalization:

A minimum of 18 years of age at the time of application filing
Lawful permanent resident for five years, or three years if married to a US citizen.
Continuous residential and physical presence in the U.S.
The ability to read, write, and speak basic English.
Good moral character
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of US history and government.
Demonstrate loyalty to the US Constitution principles.
Willingness to take the Oath of Allegiance.

Here’s what an Immigration Attorney can do for someone seeking to become a citizen. An attorney can assist you with filling out Form N-400. An attorney will explain all citizen requirements and determine whether you meet the eligibility standards. An attorney can prepare you for the interview and accompany you. If USCIS disputes a client’s eligibility, I can represent you in immigration court, serving as your advocate.
