Marvin is married to the former Maria F. Jones of the Philippines. They chose to live in Woodside and raise their two sons Tony 23 and Manny 17 here and attend local schools. Marvin is currently employed by the Boys Club of New York as a Maintenance Superintendent where he provides safe efficient building operations ensuring a quality program Queens’ youth.
MARVIN’S COMMUNITY SERVICE/ASSOCIATIONS
Upon moving to Woodside after retirement from active military service in 2004 Marvin immediately begin serving the community as the Youth Chairman for John V. Daniels Jr. VFW Post No. 2813. Under Marvin’s leadership 48 local youth from among thousands have received $3,200 in scholarships. Marvin is a proud union member of the Organization of Staff Analysts. He is a life member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association, a life member of the Combat Infantrymen’s Association, a life member of the National Rifle Association, a life member of the VFW, a Life Member of the American Legion, a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Knights of Columbus, President of the Sunnyside GOP Club, State Bar of California, and former Queens Community Board 2 member.
Marvin serves in these positions to ensure veterans receive well deserved compensation for injury and illness sustained on active duty. Compensation spent here locally to bolster our economy and enrich our neighborhood. Marvin believes in empowering our youth to create their own success through education and skill development. He’s influenced thousands of local youths as a Cub Master and Veterans Youth Chairman.
MARVIN’S LEADERSHIP
Marvin is a leader who has proven he can lead men under the stress of combat and continues to lead some of New York’s most dedicated workers during the pandemic. During his time at Airborne Express Marvin created revenue for his employer by adhering to collective bargaining agreements, managing payrolls, and ensuring efficient delivery of product. Marvin has been a member of management and labor. He knows what it takes for everyone to prosper. Marvin has been designated a subject matter expert by the City University of New York and Department of Citywide Administrative Services because of his leadership in the field of facility management and energy conservation to provide a more sustainable environment. Marvin also distinguished himself as a leader in the Army leading troops in the Persian Gulf in combat operations during Operation Desert Storm earning the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Ranger Tab, the Southwest Asia Service Medal w/1 campaign star, the Overseas Service Ribbon w/Numeral 2, the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal, the Liberation of Kuwait Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal and the Meritorious Unit Citation Ribbon.
Marvin plans to put this leadership to use to create jobs and improve the quality of life for New York’s 26th Council District.
MARVIN’S EDUCATION
Marvin possess a Juris Doctorate from Concord Law School in Los Angeles California, a Master of Arts in Diplomacy Degree from Norwich University in Northfield Vermont, Bachelors of Political Science Degree from Empire State College in Saratoga Springs New York, and an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Fayetteville Technical Community College in Fayetteville North Carolina. He is a graduate of numerous military schools including the U.S. Army Ranger School, Military Police School, and the Special Operations Training Course.
Marvin plans to use his knowledge, skills, and training to provide a safe secure environment for all New Yorkers.
